Experience nature, culture and history in a class by itself! Our local guides have a thorough knowledge of this amazing natural area, which in 2004 joined the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The hike starts at the old heliport. We start walking “The World Heritage Trail” and hear about how three different Inuit cultures of fishermen and hunters for almost 4000 years ago established the first summer camp. We pass old Inuit graves hear about flora and fauna, geology and Icefiord history. Sermermiut is still characterized by the many years of settlements, and ruins from the ancient turf huts, Inuit graves and much more is strong evidence from a harsh past. Throughout the hike, there is a magnificent view of the large icebergs. We finish the tour at the turf hut, where it will be possible to enjoy a picnic lunch.
