Many dream of watching a glacier calve. At the Eqi glacier chances of this are great. The glacier is more than 100 meters high and 5 km wide and one of the fastest-calving glaciers. You have the chance to get very close to this. We will be in front of the glacier for a few hours listening to the many sounds…. and no, it is not dynamite exploding.
It is the air in the ice that causes large chunks of ice to slide into the ocean, and this sounds like an explosion.
We sail from Ilulissat. Further north we’ll pass huge icebergs lying aground at the coast. There are good chances of seeing whales. We can choose to sit warm and comfortable indoors and enjoy the view through the panoramic windows or stand on the deck and feel the sun, wind and the fresh air. Lunch will be served, and it is possible to buy various beverages.
The trip is entirely dependent on how much ice there is. Normally there are no problems, and we’ll arrive in Ilulissat late in the afternoon.
