We are offering visitors the opportunity to visit Ilulissat’s smallest and most remote settlement, Oqaatsut (also known as Rodebay), situated around fourteen kilometres north of the city.
During the cruise, we pass the gigantic and majestic icebergs, calved off in the famous Ilulissat Icefjord. After almost an hour’s voyage, we arrive at the settlement of Oqaatsut where the primary occupations of the residents (totalling almost 40) are hunting and fishing.
During our stay at the settlement, it is possible to walk around on your own and experience this unique way of life. Lunch or dinner can be arranged at H8, the settlement’s cosy restaurant that serves all kinds of Greenlandic specialities. If you wish to hike to or from the settlement, it is possible to purchase a single ticket. For those of you who you wish to spend the night in Oqaatsut, we can also arrange accommodation.
Please note there is a minimum of eight persons required for the activity to go ahead.
